Capital Punishment Remix |Cop International, 2006, [digital EP]|

1. Loaded (Bitstream Dream Remix), 2. Anger Management (FV Remix), 3. Capital Punishment (Chris Peterson Rmx)

This mini digital EP is available on iTunes and contains two songs from their latest album “Capital Punishment” (2003) and one from the previous album “Loaded” (1997).

The first song “Loaded” is remixed by Rom Di Prisco, a successful producer of several soundtracks for video games, movies and TV series and as well as the remixer of different bands music like Skinny Puppy or Fear Factory. Rom released a great remix, enhancing the electronic sound and creating the perfect version of this beautiful song.

“Anger Management” is remixed by the German aggro-tech band Funker Vogt. I’m not a big fan of Funker Vogt because I consider their albums flat and monotonous and so they don't betray my opinion even this time, the changes don’t move away too much from the original song, presenting a "without praise or blame" remix.

The last track “Capital Punishment” is dismantled by Chris Peterson (member of FLA, Decree and Unit:187 producer). The upshot is a more aggressive, harsh and distorted version, in which the voice is fragmented and reassembled. The song is deprived of the clean synth sound and submerged by drums and atmospheres, recalling the apocalyptic song “Prophecy” from FLA “Implode” album.

It’s a very good remix EP however the only regret I have is the skimpy tracklist, so if you want to enjoy more songs you'll need to wait for the newest album. (Marco Gariboldi. Proofreading: Scott M. Owens)

Loaded |21st Circuity Rec, 1997|

Loaded, Dick, Dead Dogs, Nobody, Traces, Shape Shifter, Rat Trap, Planet Claire, Stillborn, Dead Dogs (Doggy Style Mix), Loaded (Shockfuckee Mix), Stillborn (Second Coming Mix)

The debut of Unit 187 contains very aggressive music which could be described as industrial-metal. There are several kicking ass songs to begin with Loaded - sampled and guitar driven piece. Dick it's not a stiff song, there are soft moments but the dirty guitars add a harshness. Dead Dogs reminds me somthing Chemlab or Gravity Kills-like. Nobody and Shape Shifter recalls memories of Skinny Puppy music. To sum up Loaded is a successful trial of connecting metal riffs with modern electronics. ( Katarzyna NINa Górnisiewicz. Stillborn |21st Circuity Rec, 1997|

Stillborn (Radio Edit), Stillborn (Satoven Mix), Looking At The Love Load (I Need Nobody But Me), Nobody (Radio Edit), Loaded (Hate Dept. Mix), Dead Dog (Open Surgery Mix), Lardass (Remix6 Radio Edit), Dead Dog (Punter Mix), Planet Claire

Stillborn it;s a mini LP with remixes for Loaded album. The songs were rearranged by Seibold (Hate Dept.), Devin Townsend (Strapping Young Lad), and Unit:187 themselves. There is also a cover version of B-52s' song called "Planet Claire". ( Katarzyna NINa Górnisiewicz. Must not be used for promotional or commercial purposes. Capital Punishment |COP, 2003|

Capital Punishment, Lust Poison #9, Anger Managent (Part I), Angels, Second Class Citizen, Anger Managent (Part II), Infested, Euphoria, Second Class Citizen (Decree mix)

It can happens everything when a band leaves guitar driven music and begins a challenge with the electronics. There are lots of Skinny Puppy-like sounds to mention Capital Punishment or Lust Poison #9. I was disgusted by Anger Managent (Part I). Angels seems to be a way to noise music but seems like Unit 187 doesn't feel well in that kind of stuff. I loved Infested - a very simple trance and pumping song. On the whole looks like Unit 187 goes in an interesting direction, has a potential, ideas and they are open for the new musical experiences which supported by good arrangements and production can make a new mainstream in either rock or electronic music... Unit 187 |21st Circuity, 1996|

F.O.A.D., Burn, Waiting For Jesus, Lardass, Pointless, Crackhead, Shitlist, Lifosuction, Agnostic, Debauch

It's a band founded by Jed Simmon, the Strapping Young Lad musician. And? And he plays a heavy stuff here! Pumping drums with guitar aggression and a trance feeling. Begins with a total noise finishes in a dynamical way. I liked Shitlist and Lardass mostly but there are other predatory songs as well. ( Katarzyna NINa Górnisiewicz.
