None For All And All For None EP |PSI Records, 2006|

1.Burning (Out of Control), 2.Does It Really Matter?, 3.Predisposed (To Sickness), 4.Burning (Out of Control) – Meltdown Mix, 5.Does It Really Matter? – Heat Treatment Mix, 6.Burning (Out of Control) – Molotov Mix

Seminal UK industrial rockers Pitchshifter are back after an "indefinite hiatus", and these three secretly recorded tracks by the band clearly show they are still relevant and kicking ass. This EP was given to fans with the purchase of a ticket to their "Back From The Dead" tour in March 2006. It is extremely rare and out of print, so don't go looking for it at your local record store. Most likely you will have to track it down online somehow.

The first track, "Burning (Out Of Control)" is a politically charged rocker that starts the EP off with a bang. The guitars sound huge and immediately set the tone for the rest of the record. I particularly enjoyed the lyrics on this track, which reflect the current war on terror, consumerism and corporate greed ("Have you ever even wondered what we're fighting for?").

The second track, "Does It Really Matter?" is a bit more of a rocker than the first, with some nice break beats and heavy guitar riffage. The vocals on this track are more melodic and have a touch of punk/emo influence. Of the three original songs on this EP, I think this one is the weakest. That being said, it is still a great track and fits in nicely with the other two songs.

The third original track on the EP, "Predisposed (To Sickness)" is a reworking of "Predisposed" by super group This Is Menace. This track is clearly heavier than the previous two, with some serious guitar shredding and drums that made the hair on the back of my neck stand at attention. The vocals are also nice and distorted, helping to give this track more of ahard-core sound. This is my kind of industrial metal track.
The final three tracks are some solid remixes by Rick Powell, Ma Saski, and Pitchshifter collaborators Drawbacks. These remixes are well produced, and would fit in perfectly in any club set with their emphasis on cool electro sounds and bangin' beats.

This EP is a very cool listen, and though short, it defiantly is sweet. If this EP is any indication of what the future holds for Pitchshifter, then fans should be very satisfied when their next full length drops in 2009. (James Chapple)

Remix Wars III | Earache, 1994|

Triad (Pitchshifter Remix), Diable (Therapy? Remix), N.C.M (Pitchshifter Remix), Triad (Gunshot Remix), Diable (Pitchshifter Remix), Triad (Biohazard Remix), To Die Is Gain (Pitchshifter Remix)

It's another story from Remix Wars series (typical for those releases is that one band remixes the other's music) and here we have Pitchshifter songs remixed by Gunshot, Therapy?, Biohazard... and themselves. It happens that such bands decide to cooperate or make such records during touring together and some festivals. Sometimes it happens that a support band plays better than the main guest. Sometimes they create supergroups (like Pigface, Revolting Cocks or Dessau) or they make remixes one another. Te songs come from Desensitized album released by Pitchshifter in 1993. I'm not a fan of remixes however good notes for Therapy? and Pitchshifter for cool remixes. The other bands made rap versions and it doesn't work well with PS music at all. What's more Pitchshifter made some rap style music on the next albums...

Desensitized |Earache, 1993|

Lesson One, Diable, Ephemerol, Triad, To Die Is Gain, (a higher form of) Killing, Lesson Two, Cathode, N/A, Gatherer of Data., N.C.M., Routine

Heavy, concrete and male. A continuation of Submit album vibe. Awesome songs like Gatherer of Data, Triad and Diable. ( Katarzyna NINa Górnisiewicz. Must not be used for promotional or commercial purposes. See a Legal Note for the copyrights below)

Deviant |MCA Records Inc., 2000|

Condescension, Wafer Thin, Keep It Clean, Forget The Facts, Hidden Agenda, Scene This, Dead Battery, As Seen On TV, Everything's Fucked, Chump Change, Stronger, P.S.I.cological

It's not possible to not to recognize Pitchshifter sound. The music on this record changed a bit thanx to the refrains but the climat is the same like on the previous records. Listen to Dead Battery or Chump Change to feel Pitchshifter refreshed their music. They are not afraid of experimentating and changing record labels. It's a movement forward maybe not a mile but surely towards to get the new fanbase. ( Katarzyna NINa Górnisiewicz. Must not be used for promotional or commercial purposes. Industrial |Deaf/Peaceville, 1991|

Landfill, Brutal Cancroid, Gravid Rage, New Flesh, Catharsis, Skin Grip, Inflammator, Eye

Growling, disturbed vocals, heavy sound, slowly as a steam-roller - it's the vibe which can be compared to Godflesh or Fear Factory ventures. It can make your blood pressure low so be careful - a bit of drink with an ice before ;) And don't listen to Industrial and Deviant one by one, it could sound too radical. Infotainment? |Earache, 1996|

Introductory Disclaimer, Underachiever, [We're Behaving Like] Insects, Virus, Product Placement, [Harmless] Interlude, Bloodsweatsaliva, Hangar 84, Whiteout, Phoenixology, Pitch Sampler Vol.1, Pitch Sampler Vol.2

Pitchshifter seems to have a good fanbase where they direct their very chaarcteristic music to: guitar driven songs with sampling but the guitar sound is a dominative. It can be recognized because of the 'purring' bassline, served similar to that on Gravity Kills songs. Infotainment? it's the fifth full lenght record in Pitchshifter discography seems to be a bit weaker than others, parhaps because of not many experiments the band used to put into their music. As for the songs, the best is Whiteout for its dynamics and fulling every empty space in the song composition. There are free samples included in the album for those who wants to create their own music. ( Katarzyna NINa Górnisiewicz. Must not be used for promotional or commercial purposes. P.S.I. |Mayan Records, 2002|

Stop Talking (So Loud), Eight Days, My Kind, Misdirection, Down, Shut(us)down, Whatever, Screenshot, We Know, Super-Clean, Agony, Slip, Shen-An-Doah

We got the next Pitchshifter record and fortunately there is no rap style. It seems to be music directed to the younger listeners and played on the massive gigs. It means the album contains nu metal like songs mingled with that angry Pitchshifter's typical sound. I liked Misdirection mostly thanx to the low tuned guitars. 'Whatever' song begins noisy like that typical 'soundstorm' accented on older Pitchshifter records. The same with songs called We Know and Slip. SuperClean sounds a bit too much experimental, the same with Agony. Eight Days - welcome to the WildWest. Shen-An-Doah it's a song full of surprises but sounds a way cool. Submit |Earache, 1992|

Gritter, Deconstruction, New Flesh, PSI, Bastardiser, Dry Riser Inlet, Tendrill

They released lots of albums, singles and compilations in their career. Most of them were directed to the Japanese and American music markets. Submit it's a mini LP album which presents lots of older Pitchshifter music with its heavy guitars, serious drum beats and the concrete songs compositions. ( Katarzyna NINa Górnisiewicz. Un-United Kingdom |MCA, 1999|

Un-United Kingdom, Everything Sucks (Again), Kerosene, Un-United Kingdom (Fuzz Townshend Mix)

It's a mini LP containing four tracks to begin with anti-greeting for the Great Britain (PS it's a British band). The whole album was recorded with the Sex Pistols like punk spirit. The best is Karoscene. ( Katarzyna NINa Górnisiewicz. Must not be used for promotional or commercial purposes. See a Legal Note for the copyrights below)

www.pitchshifter.com |DGC, 1998|

Microwaved, 2nd Hand, Genius, Civilised, Subject To Status, W.Y.S.I.W.Y.G., Please Sir, Disposable, A Better Lie, Innit, What's In It For Me?, I Don't Like It, ZX81[free samples]

'Genius' it's the song what got me interested in Pitchshifter music at all. Besides there are I Don't Like It and ZX81 to mention the most interesting songs on that album. Fresh guitar sound and a sampling way seems to be directed to the fans other that fed on Industrial or Desensitized albums. ( Katarzyna NINa Górnisiewicz.
